Our long national iCloud photo-syncing nightmare is almost over: Apple’s put out some new information about Photos for Mac, OS X Yosemite’s official successor to iPhoto, and released an early private beta inside OS X 10.10.3 for developers.
Photos hinterlässt einen exzellenter Ersteindruck. Nicht weil es fertig wäre, sondern weil die Schwerpunkte auf Geschwindigkeit und Übersichtlichkeit richtig gesetzt scheinen.

Ohne explizite Mithilfe des Nutzers, der eine Software-Installation außerhalb des App Stores (plus deren Warnung beim ersten Start) abnickt, geht auch hier nichts. Ich bin weiterhin der Meinung, dass eine in den Einstellungen vergrabene Option, die man vor der Verwendung von Enterprise-Zertifikaten aktivieren muss, bereits großen Schaden unterbinden würde.
Apropos Schaden: Das kürzlich veröffentlichte iOS 8.1.3 schließt mehrere signifikante Sicherheitslücken. Eine davon ließ beispielsweise zu, eine Enterprise-App auch ohne vorangestellte Nachfrage zu starten.

FiftyThree isn’t ruling out the option of introducing new paid tools and features as it continues to build out Paper, saying that „the in-app purchase model has worked really well.“ For now, though, the company’s focus is on attracting more users to Pencil and Mix, with Paper serving as the application showcasing their appeal.

Swatch Group AG plans to start selling a smartwatch within the next three months, potentially pitting the Swiss maker of colorful plastic timepieces against the debut of the Apple Watch.
Ein genereller Erfolg der Smartwatch ist keinesfalls vorprogrammiert (auch wenn Apple für seine ‚Watch‘ auffällig viel Zuversicht ausstrahlt). Eine Wischiwaschi-Ankündigung, wie diese hier von Swatch, sagt über das Unternehmen aus der Schweiz aber deutlich, das man in dieser Kategorie nicht mitreden wird.
