[interview] Tommy Forslund – Polarbit
Ein sehr lesenswertes Interview mit Neil Young, dem EA Veteran, der gerade sein iPhone-fokussiertes Gamestudio gegründet hat, brachte mich auf die Idee mal bei den Machern von Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart nach einer weiteren Meinung zu forschen.
Das Kart-Rennspiel mit dem (fast) PlayStation-Maskottchen setzt die Firma Polarbit um. Ein erstes Video und Screenshots haben wir euch hier bereits präsentiert:

Tommy Forslund von Polarbit, war so nett dem iPhoneBlog exklusiv ein paar Fragen zu beantworten.
Vielleicht kurz eure Meinung zum iPhone und dem Erfolg?
The iPhone is an interesting platform with a huge amount of potential. Technically, it’s a treat to work with. Nice hardware, a big, high-quality display and some interesting input options. We also have high hopes for the end-user delivery mechanisms; the AppStore. This is traditionally a slight problem of mobile platforms, but if Apple can achieve half of what they’ve done with iTunes we believe they’ll have a real winner on their hands.
Und jetzt heißt euer aktueller Titel Crash Bandicoot…?
We’ve worked long and hard on Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart and it feels real nice to see it all come together and of course to see interest start to build on-line. This game will be something very special. It’s been a pleasure to work with Vivendi throughout development. They’re commited in their visions for the product but understand the importance of giving us as developers enough rein to achieve the best possible result, both from a gameplay and technical perspective.
Ihr seit unter anderem die Macher des ersten 3D-Rennspiels Raging Thunder, das via Installer vertrieben wurde. Was für Eindrücke konntet ihr dabei sammeln?
Meanwhile, we have also had about 700.000 downloads of Raging Thunder in a little under 2 months from the repository, so it’s abundantly clear that there is a lot of interest in the iPhone and iPod Touch as gaming platforms. We’re hoping to have a final version of Raging Thunder, with all the bells and whistles such as landscape support and multiplayer, out on the AppStore as soon as possible. All-in-all, we’re very happy with the current situation and look forward to working with the iPhone on many future projects.
